Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, October 10, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have additionally charged Damion Lamont McDonald, 08/03/2001, for his involvement in this incident.

From information and evidence obtained, McDonald was identified as a suspect in this case and warrants were issued for his arrest. On October 9, 2021, McDonald was arrested by officers in the Westover Division and transported to the LEC. Following an interview with detectives, McDonald was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, October 8, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Brian Adam Monroy, DOB: 08/31/2002, for the murder of Eric Deese.  A 17-year-old juvenile male has also been charged for his involvement in this incident.

As a result of continued investigation, homicide detectives identified Monroy and the juvenile as suspects in this case, and warrants were issued for their arrest.  On October 8, 2021,  detectives with the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Monroy without incident. Following an interview with detectives, Monroy was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Murder. The juvenile male was also arrested without incident by officers in the University City Division.  After being interviewed by detectives, he was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, October 6, 2021) – The victim in this case has been identified as Eric Deese II, DOB: 12/16/2001.  His family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, October 5, 2021) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3900 block of Farmington Ridge Parkway in the University Division.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on October 5, 2021, officers responded to an damage of  property call at the 3900 block of Farmington Ridge Parkway.  When they arrived, officers located an adult victim just down the street with apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced on scene. 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives from the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command, Victim's Assistance, Special Investigations Bureau,  CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
