Homicide Investigation in the University City Division - October 30, 2021

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, October 30, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Ronald Bernard Walker, DOB: 10/06/1980, for the murder of James Thomas Davis Jr.

As a result of their investigation, Homicide Unit detectives identified Walker as the suspect in this case, and warrants were issued for his arrest.  Around 11:30 a.m. this morning, Walker was located and arrested through a cumulative effort between the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), Canine Unit, and officers from the University City, North Tryon and Metro Divisions.  Walker was interviewed by homicide detectives and has since been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office where he has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, October 30, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 8200 block of University City Boulevard in the University City Division

Around midnight on October 30, 2021, officers responded to reports of a shooting inside of NC Tavern located at 8225 University City Boulevard.  When they arrived, they located an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command, ABC Unit, Victim Services and NC ALE also assisted.
