Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, May 22, 2021) – The victim, in this case, has been identified as Elijah Mark Riggan, DOB: 04/05/2005. His family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, May 21, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 7700 block of South Tryon Street in the Steele Creek Division

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., on May 21, 2021, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service near the 7700 block of South Tryon Street. When they arrived, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by Medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command,  Crime Stoppers, Victim Services, and CFD also assisted.
