Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, January 4, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 600 block of W. 24th Street in the Metro Division.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at approximately 4:22 p.m., Metro Division officers responded to a call about an injured person in the 600 block of W. 24th Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
