Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division - April 1, 2021

Charlotte, N.C. - (Thursday, August 5, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have classified this case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office has consulted with CMPD's Homicide Unit and concurs with the detectives' decision not to charge anyone in this case.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Thursday, April 1, 2021) - The victim in this case has been identified as William Alexander, DOB: 10/14/1977.  His family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, April 1, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 900 block of McArthur Avenue in the Metro Division.

Shortly after 11:15 a.m. on April 1, 2021, officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon near the 900 block of McArthur Avenue.  When they arrived, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by Medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, Crime Stoppers, Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, and CFD also responded to assist.
