Homicide Investigation in the Independence Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 6000 block of Pineburr Road in the Independence Division.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 2, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 6000 block of Pineburr Road in the Independence Division.


On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, shortly before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance shots fired call for service in the 6000 block of Pineburr Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene.


Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
