Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4500 block of Sadler Road in the Freedom Division.

On Tuesday, November 29, shortly after 6:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 4500 block of Sadler Road.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. MEDIC transported the victim to CMC Main with life-threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased from his injuries a short time later. Detectives have identified a person of interest and are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.


Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD, MEDIC and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.


The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
