Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, May 30, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3300 block of Biscayne Dr in the Eastway Division.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m., on May 29, 2021, officers responded to a Welfare Check near the 3300 block of Biscayne Drive. When they arrived, officers located a deceased female victim. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by the responding officers. The victim has been identified as Ashly Marie Marquez, DOB: 6/19/91. Her family has been notified of her death.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation as foul play had been suspected. Concord Police Department assisted in the initial investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Arson Detectives and a representative of the District Attorney's Office were also present.
As a result of continued investigation, Homicide detectives with the assistance of the Real Time Crime Center, were able to identify two suspects in this case. June Kennard Brantley, DOB: 9/19/90 and Troy Ricardo Privette Jr., DOB: 1/23/90 were taken into custody by Eastway and North Tryon patrol officers and were transported to the LEC Headquarters to be interviewed.
Following interview, Brantley was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with 1st Degree Murder and Concealing a Death. Privette Jr. was also transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Accessory After the Fact (Murder) and Concealing a Death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
