Charlotte, N.C. – (February 17, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 400 block of North Poplar Street in the Central Division.
On Friday, February 17, 2023, at approximately 10:25 a.m., Central Division officers responded to an Assist Medic call for service. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a life-threatening injury. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
