Homicide Investigation in Metro Division - October 1, 2021

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, October 4, 2021) – The victim in this case has been identified as Markelia Jenilla Young, DOB: 01/19/1986.  Her family has been notified of her death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, October 1, 2021) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 2600 block of Clydesdale Terrace in the Metro Division.

Shortly after 5:20 p.m. on October 1, 2021, officers responded to an assault with deadly weapon call for service in the 2600 block of Clydesdale Terrace. Upon arrival, officers located one victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, and CFD also assisted.
