Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 1, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have charged Ja'Meil Robert Lynwood Catlett, 38, for the murder of Eileen Rosado.

As a result of continued investigation, Homicide Unit detectives identified Ja'Meil Robert Lynwood Catlett, DOB: 11/29/1983, as the suspect in this case, and warrants were issued for his arrest.  On December 1, 2021, detectives with the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) worked alongside members of the High Point Police Department to locate and arrest Catlett in High Point, NC.  Following his interview with detectives, Catlett was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, October 21, 2021) –  The victim in this case has been identified as Eileen Rosado, DOB: 10/27/1980.  Her family has been notified of her death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, October 20, 2021) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the Metro Division.

Shortly before 12:45 p.m. on October 20, 2021, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 1400 block of Spring Street.  When they arrived, officers located an adult female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. 

From the information provided by witnesses, detectives had reason to believe the suspect was possibly still on the scene. Out of an abundance of caution, the CMPD's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team responded to assist with a search for the suspect, who was determined to have fled the area.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives from the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command, Victim's Assistance, and CFD also assisted.
