Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, October 11, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Tracy Williams, DOB: 07/09/2003, for the murder of Micahiah Dunn, DOB: 12/18/2000, who is the victim in this case. 

As a result of continued investigation, homicide detectives identified Williams as a suspect in this case and warrants were issued for his arrest.  On October 11, 2021,  detectives with the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Williams without incident. Following an interview with detectives, Williams was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, October 11, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 1700 block of Flat River Drive.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., on October 10, 2021, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 1700 block of Flat River Drive.  When they arrived, officers located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  Medic transported the victim to Atrium Main where he was later pronounced deceased from injuries sustained. 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, while Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.   Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command, Victim's Assistance, and CFD also responded to the scene.
