Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Hickory Grove Division have charged Omar Anthony, DOB: 03/19/1995, and Larry Thomas Jr., DOB: 05/22/1996 for their involvement in this case.
On Tuesday, February 02, 2016, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Hickory Grove Division patrol officers responded to the 9500 block of Currier Road in reference to a shooting into an occupied dwelling call for service. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he and a roommate where home when the unknown suspects shot into their residence. Officers on scene had received information and descriptions of the suspects that were possibly inside a nearby residence and requested additional units.
Officers located Omar Anthony and Larry Thomas Jr. inside the residence on Rothman Lane and notified detectives from the Hickory Grove Division who responded to the scene. After searching the residence, officers located two weapons inside which were seized as evidence.
The suspects were transported to the Hickory Grove Division team office where they were interviewed by detectives. As a result of information and evidence gathered, Anthony and Thomas were each charged with Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Discharging a Weapon in the City Limits. Both suspects were then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Thanks to the quick response by officers and community members who provided information which led to the apprehension of these suspects.
