Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, March 15, 2020) – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Unit is investigating a Hit and Run involving a pedestrian that occurred in the Hickory Grove Division. On Thursday, March 5, 2020 at approximately 10:00p.m., Hickory Grove Officers responded to the 10700 block of Parkton Road in reference to a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, officers located a female with serious injuries who had been struck by a vehicle. MEDIC arrived and transported the victim to Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center with serious injuries. The motor vehicle involved did not remain at the scene.
CMPD's Major Crash Unit and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation. Vehicle evidence was collected from the scene and is being analyzed. The investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle's last known direction of travel was west on Parkton Road towards Albemarle Road. This vehicle should have front-end damage from this crash.
On Saturday, March 14th, 2020, at 12:51 p.m. the victim succumbed to the injuries that she sustained from this crash. The victim has been identified as Tammie Sullivan Pennington, DOB: 08/04/1968.
