Hickory Grove Division - Detectives arrest shooting suspect

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Hickory Grove Division have charged Kendrick Piggie, DOB: 05/30/1989, for his involvement in this case.

On February 19, 2019, at 9:56 a.m., Hickory Grove Division officers responded to the 5700 block of N. Sharon Amity Road in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Officers at the Hickory Grove division office located the victims in a vehicle outside of the office parking lot with heavy damage. Officers spoke with the victim and she stated her ex-boyfriend, Kendrick Piggie, followed her and struck her vehicle multiple times.  Once the victim pulled into the Hickory Grove Division parking lot, Piggie struck her vehicle again, and fired shots at the victims before fleeing the scene.  The victim and her four children were not injured during the shooting. 

The suspect left the parking lot and crashed his vehicle nearby and fled the scene on foot.  With the assistance of K-9, officers located and arrested Piggie. He was transported to Atrium Health with minor injuries sustained in the crash and was interviewed by division detectives. 

At the conclusion of the interview, Piggie was charged with Attempted Murder, 5 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 4 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon in the Presence of a Minor, Communicating Threats, Firearm by Felon, and 5 counts of Shooting into an Occupied Conveyance.  Piggie will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office upon release from the hospital.
