Heavy Traffic Expected During Multiple Charlotte Events
Charlotte, NC—Multiple public events scheduled over the next five days are expected to bring heavy traffic to the City of Charlotte. The PGA tournament started Monday, August 7 in south Charlotte and will run through Sunday, August 13. The uptown area is expected to also experience congestion on Wednesday, August 9 with the Carolina Panthers pre-season game at the Bank of America Stadium and a J. Cole performance at the Spectrum Center.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are advised of the following:
Gleneagles Road will be closed to through traffic between Quail Hollow Road and Park Road from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day of the tournament.
Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be high in all areas.
Rain is forecast every day through Sunday. Rain and fog can impair visibility and reduce ability to see cars, pedestrians and bicyclists.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes or use transit, drive cautiously and slow down, and allow extra travel time.
On-street parking will be restricted in some neighborhoods surrounding the Quail Hollow Golf Course.
