Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

​Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, July 13, 2021) – The victim in this case has been identified as Marquise Chandler Jr., DOB: 05/07/1994. His family has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, July 13, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8000 block of Harris Station Boulevard in the University City Division.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m. on July 13, 2021, officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 8000 block of Harris Station Boulevard.  Upon their arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim to a local hospital, where he has since been pronounced deceased.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command,  Victim's Assistance, and CFD also assisted.
