The spirit of the Neighborhood Matching Grant program is building community. One neighborhood who has caught that spirit is Hammond Lake.
In 2019, Hammond Lake HOA received a community branding grant for neighborhood signage. This grant required them to volunteer their time. With those volunteer hours, this community has been working on increasing neighborhood unity.

As part of their ongoing efforts to create space for neighbors to come together and engage, the Hammond Lake Homeowners Association applied for a 2020 NMG to build an ADA compliant walking path through the woods. The path would lead to a small pond where neighbors could gather socially or just sit and reflect in front of the pond. The grant was approved, and the neighborhood moved forward with project implementation in early 2021. The project concluded successfully with a ribbon cutting celebration on December 18, 2021. With warmer weather coming to Charlotte, the spot is now a favorite with the neighborhood. Everyone is grateful for a safe place to get outside and connect.
If you are curious about whether the Neighborhood Matching Grant program is right for you and your neighborhood, please visit the program's website for program guidelines. Grant applications are accepted three times a year, on March 1, June 1, and September 1.

In preparation for each grant application round, the Neighborhood Matching Grants program hosts meetings to answer people's questions about the process. If you would like to register for one of the presentations below, register online. Each meeting includes a presentation about the application process and time to ask questions. There are several presentations in April and May in preparation for the June 1 application deadline.
