After evaluating evidence gathered through the course of the investigation, this case is now being investigated as a homicide.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

The victim in this case has been identified as Jimmy Tilley, DOB: 04/26/1961His family has been notified of his death.

Saturday, October 26, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit, along with the Major Crash Unit, are conducting a death investigation in the 1000 block of Little Rock Road in the Freedom Division.  The call for service came in at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Freedom Division patrol officers responded to a disturbance call on Little Rock Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck in the front yard of a home.  A male on the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene.  The victim's identity will be released pending family notification.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are canvassing the neighborhood to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, RTCC, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
