Five Suspects Charged in 2015 Homicide

Detectives with the Homicide Unit have charged David Ford, III, DOB: 12/05/1990, Adrian Mcleod, DOB: 05/16/1991, Antoine Nicholson, DOB: 01/28/1993, Andrew Tarlton, DOB: 10/01/1993, and Destiny Gray, DOB: 05/28/1993, with the murder of Kynyatta Tshionna.

On July 15, 2015, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide/ADW Unit and the Major Crash Unit, conducted a homicide investigation in the 2200 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road in the Metro Division. The call for service came in at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
On that date, Metro Division patrol officers responded to 911 calls in reference to shots fired near Seldon Avenue and Rozzelles Ferry Road. While enroute, officers received an additional call for a single vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road. Upon arrival they located a vehicle that had struck a utility pole. A male subject was located inside of the vehicle and found to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male, identified as Kynyatta Dmyr Tshionna, DOB: 09/26/1980, was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.

Based on information and evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, detectives identified Ford, McLeod, Nicholson and Tarlton as suspects in this case and obtained warrants for their arrests. Detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team were requested in locating these suspects.

On April 18, 2016, North Tryon Division officers located and arrested Ford without incident. Detectives with the VCAT then located and arrested McLeod and Nicholson on April 19, 2016, without incident. Gray was located with McLeod and arrested on unrelated charges. They were all transported to police headquarters for interview. Gray was subsequently also charged for her involvement in the murder.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, Tarlton was located without incident and transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives.

All five suspects have been charged with Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an ongoing, active investigation. As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
