On Friday, April 1, 2016, at approximately 12:16 p.m., Janet McFadden was a pedestrian crossing S. Main Street in Davidson, NC. Ms. McFadden was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk walking two dogs.
Jeffery Wilburn was the driver of a Republic Services garbage truck. Mr. Wilburn made a left turn from South Street onto S. Main Street. The truck then struck Ms. McFadden as she was crossing the street in the marked crosswalk. Ms. McFadden was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The Davidson Police Department requested the assistance of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is the investigating agency for this crash event.
Jeffrey Wilburn was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle. Speed and alcohol use are not factors for this crash.
