Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, September 30, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit have made an arrest related to a fatal crash investigation in the Freedom Division in October 2021.
On Monday October 25, 2021, at 2:10 p.m., Freedom Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 4400-block of Wilkinson Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located an overturned 2020 Jeep Latitude, a damaged 2003 Honda Odyssey, and a damaged 2016 Kenworth tow truck in the roadway. A damaged 2017 Honda Fit was located a short distance away. Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, officers with the DWI Task Force and Crime Scene Search Unit all responded to investigate.
The initial investigation indicated the Jeep, driven by Bryan Maurice Price (DOB: 02/08/1983) was traveling westbound on Wilkinson Boulevard when he hit the Honda Fit in the 3200-block of Wilkinson. Price left the scene of that crash in the Jeep and continued down Wilkinson, later striking the Honda Odyssey and then the Kenworth tow truck.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey was ejected from the vehicle and was transported by Medic to Atrium Health Main. On October 28, 2021, the driver of the Honda Odyssey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Givh Daniel (DOB: 12/16/58).
Following the crash, Price retrieved items from the Jeep, later determined to be methamphetamines and marijuana, crawled underneath the truck, and attempted to conceal the drugs in the tow truck's undercarriage. Price was found lying under the tow truck. He was transported by Medic to Atrium Health Main for serious injuries.
Warrants were obtained for Price's arrest for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Hit and Run, and Reckless Driving. Following Daniel's death, an additional warrant for Involuntary Manslaughter was obtained.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, Bryan Maurice Price (DOB: 02/08/1983) was arrested and charged with all five outstanding warrants.
