Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in the Metro Division

9/3/2021

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, September 15, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit have charged Una Johnson Uche, DOB: 01/01/1991, for her involvement in this case.

As a result of continued investigation, it was determined the Toyota rear-ended the Cadillac, causing the Cadillac to run off of the roadway and strike a tree.  Speeding and reckless driving were determined to be contributing factors to the crash on the part of the driver of the Toyota, so detectives sought misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and reckless driving warrants for Uche's arrest.  Uche has since been arrested, transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and served her outstanding warrants.

The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
