On Monday, November 14, 2022, at approximately 6:31 a.m., officers in the Metro Division responded to the 200 block of Matheson Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle crash call for service involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a 2020 BMW X3 and a pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian, Mingji Jin (DOB: 12/18/1962), was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. The victim's family has been notified of her death.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, officers with the DWI Task Force, the Medical Examiner's Office, and Crime Scene Search responded to investigate. The initial investigation revealed the pedestrian, Mingji Jin, was standing in the left travel lane on Matheson Avenue when she was struck by the vehicle. Ms. Jin was not in a crosswalk or near an intersection while in the roadway. At the time of the accident, lighting conditions in the crash location were dark and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.
