Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, May 22, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in the 2000 block of West Boulevard in the Westover Division.
On May 22, 2021, shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision in the 2000 block of West Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a 1995 Honda Accord in the wood line. Both the driver and the front seat passengers were not wearing their seatbelts and were pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. The male passenger has been identified as Antonio Bryant, DOB: 10/18/1980. The female driver has been identified as Chevelle Jeter DOB: 06/19/1964. Their family has been notified of their death.
The CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force, Motorcycle Unit, and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation and collect physical evidence. The preliminary investigation indicated that the Honda was traveling east on West Boulevard at a high rate of speed, and as it entered the curve, the vehicle began to slide sideways. The vehicle then struck the curb and multiple trees in the woodline before coming to a stop. Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in this case and toxicology results for the driver are pending.
