Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, July 13, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal hit and run collision that occurred in the 300 block of Hoskins Mill Lane in the Freedom Division.
On Tuesday, July 5, 2021, at approximately 4:15 a.m., officers responded to a reports of a pedestrian struck in the 300 block of Hoskins Mill Lane in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers located a female on the pavement being treated by Medic. The female pedestrian was transported to Atrium Health - CMC Main with serious injuries.
On July 12, 2021, the pedestrian, identified as Barbara Walker, DOB: 07/12/1956, succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the incident. Impairment is unknown for Mrs. Walker as toxicology results are pending. Her family has been notified of her death.
The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
