Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, August 6, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit are conducting an investigation into a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred near the 6500 block of North Tryon Street in the North Tryon Division.
Shortly after 11:55 p.m. on August 5, 2021, officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of North Tryon Street and Tom Hunter Road. When they arrived, officers located Ronnie Bernard Little Jr., DOB: 04/11/1989, lying in the roadway with serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased on scene, and his family has been notified of his death.
The CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force, Motor Unit and Crime Scene Search responded to conduct the investigation. Their preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing the southbound travel lanes of North Tryon Street when a gray, 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck struck him at a high rate of speed. The driver of the pickup did not stop but fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing to locate the vehicle and identify its driver.
