Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, February 7, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the South Division.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at approximately 2:15 p.m., South Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash involving four vehicles in the 10500 block of Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Upon arrival, officers located the collision in the intersection of Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Ballantyne Medical Place. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2010 Toyota Highlander, Sree Mulpuru (DOB: 06/18/1945), was making a left-hand turn from Ballantyne Commons Pkwy onto Ballantyne Medical Place. As he was making the turn, the SUV was struck on the front right passenger side by a 1998 Ford Mustang, driven by, Maria Radzik (DOB 8/8/1955). After the collision, the SUV continued on and struck two other vehicles.
On Saturday, February 4, 2023, the CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit was notified that a passenger, Mythili Mulpuru (DOB:09/05/1949), died due to the injuries she sustained in the crash.
The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
