Fatal Crash Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, November 12, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit conducted an investigation into a fatal crash that occurred off of Billy Graham Parkway.

Shortly before 9:50 a.m. on November 10, 2021, officers responded to reports of a serious injury crash near the 3200 block of Billy Graham Parkway in the Freedom Division.  When they arrived, they located a 2017 Nissan Sentra with heavy front-end damage, a 2003 Ford Ranger with front and rear damage, and a 2013 Nissan Rogue with minor rear-end damage caused by the crash.  Medic also arrived and transported the driver of the Nissan Sentra, Allen McRae, DOB: 07/11/1938, to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.  His family has been notified of his death.

Medic also transported the driver of the Ford Ranger, Dennis Talley, DOB: 10/20/1958, to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Nissan Rogue, Victoria Jimenez, DOB: 11/11/1977, was uninjured and remained on the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that both the Ford Ranger and Nissan Rogue were stopped at the red light in the same lane on Billy Graham Parkway at West Boulevard.  The Nissan Sentra was also traveling in the same lane and failed to stop and collided into the rear of the Ford Ranger, causing the Ford Ranger to hit the back of the Nissan Rogue.  After colliding with the Ford Ranger, the Nissan Sentra veered to the right side of the road, striking a utility pole.  The leading cause of the crash is still under investigation.  Toxicology results are pending to determine if impairment could be a contributing factor.

The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
