Eastway Division - Two suspects arrested for making bomb threats at Hawthorne Academy

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Eastway Division have charged two juvenile suspects for making threats involving Hawthorne Academy. 

This morning at approximately 9:00 a.m., the SRO (School Resource Officer) at Hawthorne Academy, located at 1411 Hawthorne Lane, received information that two students had communicated bomb threats while at school.  The SRO and CMS staff located both students who were interviewed and searched.  No weapons or devices were located during the search.

As a result of information gathered, Eastway Division Officers charged the 15-year-old and 14-year-old male suspects each with one count of Communicating Threats, and released them to the custody of their parents. 

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Police Department take threats of violence towards students and staff very seriously and thoroughly investigate each reported incident.
