Eastway Division - Homicide in the 3300 block of Krupa Court

Case Update: Friday, November 29, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Elvira Elizabeth Alexander, DOB: 09/25/1963, for the murder of her daughter, Chante Lavarche Alexander, DOB: 06/01/1982.

Alexander, who was detained on scene by the responding Eastway Division officers, was subsequently transported to police headquarters where she was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives.  She has since been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder and possession of a stolen firearm.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3300 block of Krupa Court in the Eastway Division.  The call for service came in at 9:37 p.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2019. 

Eastway Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a female in an apartment complex with a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  Her name will be released once her family has been notified.

Responding officers detained a person of interest at the residence. No additional suspects are being sought by detectives at this time.  

Initial information gathered at the scene indicates that this incident is domestic related.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.
