***UPDATE*** Eastway Division - Homicide in the 3100 block of North Sharon Amity Road

Case Update: Monday, February 18, 2019,

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged Tyrone Lamark Miller, DOB: 08/14/1990, for his involvement in the murder of Elchin Khalilov.

As a result of continued investigation into this case, the Homicide Unit identified Miller as a suspect and obtained warrants for Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Firearm by Felon.  CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) began working to locate and arrest Miller on these warrants.

Earlier today, VCAT developed information as to the whereabouts of Miller.  As a result of collaboration with the FBI and the Dallas Police Department, Miller was located and arrested in Dallas, Texas. Upon extradition, he will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sherriff's Office.

Case Update: Thursday, January 31, 2019,

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are asking for the public's assistance in solving the murder of  Elchin Khalilov.  Mr. Khalilov was fatally shot during an armed  robbery at FixEr Electronics, a small business he owned in the 3100 block of N. Sharon Amity Road.  The suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at Mr. Khalilov and then shot and killed him even though Mr. Khalilov was being cooperative and not resisting in any way.

CMPD Detectives and FBI agents are working together as part of the FBI Charlotte Violent Crime Task Force. It is comprised of the FBI, the CMPD, the Union County Sheriff's Office and the Gastonia Police Department. The task force leverages strong law enforcement partnerships, intelligence sharing, resources, and the weight of both state and federal laws to address and mitigate the violent crime threat in our communities. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers offers up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in any homicide. Case Update: Monday, January 14, 2019

The victim in this case has been identified as Elchin Khalilov, DOB: 06/17/1989His family has been notified of his death.

Monday, January 14, 2019,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3100 block of N. Sharon Amity Road Eastway Division.  The call for service came in at 10:58 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019. 

Eastway Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with an apparent gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim, an adult male, to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim's name will be released once his family has been notified about this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Operations Command, and Victim Services responded to the scene.
