Eastway Division - Fatality in the 4600 block of Central Avenue

On Sunday January 27, 2019 at 9:43 p.m., Eastway Division Officers responded to an injury crash at the intersection of Central Avenue and Lansdale Drive.  Upon arrival the officers located a motorcycle and pick-up truck involved in the crash.  MEDIC arrived and pronounced the motorcyclist, Miguel Angel Linarte Jacome, deceased.  The driver of the truck, Jose Rodrigo Barajas Diaz, remained on the scene.  The CMPD Major Crash Investigation Unit and DWI Task Force responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

The detectives determined the motorcycle was traveling outbound on Central Avenue when the Chevrolet pick-up made a U-turn from the inbound lanes of Central Avenue into the path of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle struck the right front side of the pick-up truck.  Witnesses were interviewed at the scene by detectives.  Jose Rodrigo Barajas Diaz was charged felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, open container after consuming, no operator license, and safe movement violation.
