Detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested and charged Nicolas Vasquez, DOB: 02/07/1976, for his involvement in this case.
On Wednesday, February 03, 2016, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Independence Division patrol officers received information that Nicolas Vasquez had been sexually assaulting children over the past 2-3 years. Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit were notified and responded to the scene to begin their investigation.
As a result of information and evidence gathered by detectives they obtained a search warrant for Mr. Vasquez's residence. During the search, additional evidence was located and seized related to this case. The male and female victims in this case at the time of the assaults were between the ages of 9 to 12 years old. At the time of the assaults, Vasquez was an active member at the Asamblea Apostolica Church.
Mr. Vasquez was voluntarily transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives. Upon completion of the interview, Mr. Vasquez was charged with eighteen counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, eleven counts of 1st
degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and five counts of 1st
degree Sex Offense and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
