Death Investigation in the Central Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 1500 block of W. Summit Avenue in the Central Division.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 29, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 1500 block of W. Summit Avenue in the Central Division.

 

On Thursday, December 29, 2022 at approximately 11:09 a.m., officers responded to an Check the Welfare call in the 1500 block of W. Summit Avenue in the Central Division. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult female. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.  The circumstances around the cause of death are not known at this time.

 

Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, and Norfolk Southern Police assisted.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
