Charlotte, N.C. - (Tuesday, September 21, 2021) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation near the 1800 block of Village Lake Drive.
On September 21, 2021, at approximately 1:53 p.m., officers responded to a check the welfare call for service in the 1800 block of Village Lake Drive. Upon arrival, officers observed a body floating in a small body of water. With assistance from the Charlotte Fire Department, the body was removed from the water and pronounced deceased by officers shortly after.
As is standard procedure for any sudden or unexpected death, the CMPD's Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. CMPD's Operations Command and Victim Services also responded to assist.
