Case Update: Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation


Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 28, 2021) –  On July 28, 2021, at approximately 1:12 p.m.., the skeletal remains of a human body were discovered in the 1500 block of Lasalle Street.  After review by the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's Office, the victim has been identified as David Crawford, DOB: 08/19/1942.

Homicide Unit & Missing Persons Unit detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case but do not believe foul play is involved.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, September 2, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Missing Person Unit are requesting the public's assistance in finding 78-year-old David Crawford. 

Mr. Crawford was last seen on Monday, August 31, 2020, around 6:30 p.m., at his residence in the 1600 block of Lasalle Street.  He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a blue long-sleeve, a button-up shirt, and white sneakers. Mr. Crawford has gray hair and walks hunched over.  Mr. Crawford was possibly seen in the University Area on Tuesday, August 1, 2020.  

Anyone with information on Mr. Crawford's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
