Crimes Against Children Detectives-arrest-sexual-assault-suspect

Detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit have charged Mario McIlwain, DOB: 08/14/1991, for his involvement in the sexual assault of a 13 year-old juvenile victim. 

On June 21, 2018, the mother of a 13 year-old female victim notified Providence Division Patrol Officers about an incident that occurred between her daughter and Mario McIlwain, who was employed as a Security Guard/Behavioral Management Technician at Alexander Graham Middle School, located at 1800 Runnymede Lane.  The mother stated that McIlwain sexually assaulted her daughter on multiple occasions from February 2018 until May 2018 at Alexander Graham Middle School.  Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit were notified and launched an investigation.

As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, Crimes Against Children Unit Detectives obtained 27 warrants for McIlwain's arrest.  On July 11, 2018, McIlwain was arrested and interviewed by detectives.  At the completion of the interview, McIlwain was charged with 9 counts of Sex Act by Custodian, 7 counts of Statutory Rape, 2 counts of Statutory Sex Offense, and 9 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child, and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
