Charlotte, N.C. (May 17, 2018) – The City of Charlotte and Road to Hire are teaming up this weekend to provide community members of the North End Smart District and beyond with free career development and digital learning opportunities.

An open house will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Nest space at Camp North End, 1776 Statesville Ave. Road to Hire, a nonprofit that promotes economic mobility for underemployed young adults in the Charlotte metro area through paid professional training, personal development and job placement, will walk residents through the programs it offers and give them the opportunity to participate in an on-site interview for an upcoming leadership academy course.

"By bringing this open house to the North End Smart District, we are able to offer valuable career resources to the residents of area neighborhoods," said Cherie T. Grant, Northwest Community Engagement Liaison for the City of Charlotte's Housing and Neighborhood Services department. "That's what the North End Smart District is about – meeting people where they are and partnering with them for greater opportunity and economic mobility."

Participants will have access to state-of-the-art facilities in a collaborative learning environment at the Nest and enjoy an exclusive sneak peek of the Camp North End facilities. All are welcome, including friends and family. There is no need to dress up. Lunch will be provided for all participants and guests.
