The Charlotte Fire Department Explorer Post will host its 40th annual open house on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. The primary purpose of the program is to provide fire service career awareness to young men and women.
Many young adults have already enjoyed the memorable experience of learning what it takes to become a firefighter. This hands-on experience is accomplished through a program that utilizes classroom lectures, practical applications, and opportunities to ride along with fire crews.
The program seeks to instill in each Explorer member the importance of obtaining a college education, being a responsible citizen, and, most of all, striving to be the best that you can be. There are two time slots available for registration, 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Charlotte Fire Department Training Academy, located at 1770 Shopton Road.
This is a coed program for young men and women ages 14 to 20 and is open to the surrounding Charlotte Metro area. Anyone interested in attending can come out and take an up-close and personal look at what our Explorer Post has to offer.
All young people in attendance will be given an opportunity to register and become a member of our Post. Parents or legal guardians are welcome to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Charlotte Fire will cover the $75 registration fee for all Explorers who wish to participate in the program. Students will be registered through Dec. 31, 2023, and able to participate in as many Explorer Posts as they wish.
