Central Division - Homicide in the 700 block of North Smith Street

Case Update: Tuesday, September 24, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Marcus Bradley, DOB: 02/13/1957, for the murder of Mark Daniel Jamison, DOB: 09/18/1961.

As a result of continued investigation, Bradley was identified as a suspect in this case.  Bradley was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives, and at the conclusion of the interview, Bradley was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.  He has been charged with murder and carrying a concealed weapon (knife).

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

Monday, September 23, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 700 block of N. Smith Street in the Central Division.  The call for service came in at 7:19 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019. 

Central Division patrol officers responded to a physical assault call.  Upon arrival, officers located one male with stab wounds in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased on scene. His name will be released once family notification has been made.

Preliminary information indicates that the victim and suspects were involved in an altercation, when the victim was stabbed. 

Homicide detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.
