***UPDATE*** Central Division - Homicide in the 300 block of West Boulevard

Case Update:  Thursday, October 31, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Demetrius Shivers-Adams, DOB: 12/24/1996, with the murder of Ronnie Franklin.

Through continued investigations, detectives identified Shivers-Adams as a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest. Shivers-Adams is currently in custody in Richmond County, Georgia on unrelated charges and is awaiting extradition back to Mecklenburg County.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Case Update:  Monday, October 21, 2019

The victim in this case has been identified the victim as Ronnie Lamont Franklin, DOB: 11/05/1985.  His family has been notified of his death.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 300 block of West Blvd.  The call for service came in at 5:03 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019. 

Central Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Officers located a male with a gunshot wound outside of the location and he was pronounced at the scene. His name will be released once his family has been notified.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. Preliminary investigations have determined there was a verbal altercation between the victim and a group of patrons inside the business prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the scene in a newer model white Nissan Rogue. The license plate information is unknown at this time.

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, RTCC, Medic, CFD, Special Bureau of Investigations and Operations Command responded to the scene.
