Case Update: Juvenile Suspects Arrested in Stolen Vehicle & Kidnapping Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, January 17, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Eastway Division have arrested and charged a total of three juveniles in connection to this investigation. 

 

On Monday, January 16, 2023, detectives charged two of the juvenile suspects, a 14 and 15-year-old, with the following:

 

  • Kidnapping (1st degree)
  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

 

The 15-year-old suspect faces an additional charge of Felony Flee to Elude.

 

A third juvenile suspect, 12-years-old, has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

 

As a result of the continued investigation, detectives also charged the 4-year-old victim's mother.  Keeyamah Williams (DOB: 10/23/1987), was cited for Misdemeanor Child Abuse.

Juvenile Suspects Arrested in Stolen Vehicle & Kidnapping Investigation

 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, January 16, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Eastway Division and Homicide Unit are conducting a stolen vehicle and kidnapping investigation near the 3100 block of Central Avenue in the Eastway Division.

On Monday, January 16, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers in the Eastway Division responded to a stranger kidnapping call for service. A caller advised officers that her vehicle was stolen with her 4-year-old child inside. Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. The driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit.

Shortly after 7 p.m., the stolen vehicle crashed at North Graham Street and Rumple Road. Both suspects, ages 14 and 15, were arrested and taken into custody. The 4-year-old victim was located in the vehicle unharmed.

Homicide Unit and Eastway detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Officers from multiple patrol divisions assisted with the search and apprehension efforts. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Aviation Unit, and the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) also assisted.
