Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 10000 block of John Adams Drive in the University Division.

On September 8, 2022, a second suspect Dallas Brand Jr. (DOB 08/23/1984), turned himself in for the murder of Dymonte Latrell Hall. Brand Jr. is charged with First Degree Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, August 22, 2022) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Rashad Lamar Elliott (DOB 09/09/1987) as a suspect in the murder of Dymonte Latrell Hall.

 

On August 22, 2022, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) detectives located and arrested Elliott without incident. Elliott was charged with 1st Degree Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Elliott was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (601 E. Trade St.) and after speaking with detectives was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. The victim's next of kin are aware of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, July 28, 2022) – Detectives in the Homicide Unit have identified the victim in this case as Dymonte Latrell Hall (DOB 4/29/1998). The family of the victim has been notified by CMPD.

 Homicide Investigation in the University Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 27, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 10000 block of John Adams Drive in the University Division.

 

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to Atrium University in reference to a subject who arrived with a gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the entrance to the Emergency Room.

 

After conducting a preliminary investigation, Homicide Unit detectives determined the crime scene to be the 10000 block of John Adams Drive. They arrived to investigate, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Service, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
