Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3600 block of Citiside Drive in the North Tryon Division.

The victim has been identified as Deandre McKye Hagler (DOB 12/20/2001). The victim's next of kin has been notified.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested Treyvon Young (DOB 05/05/2003) for the killing of Hagler. Young was on probation and on electronic monitoring at the time of the murder.  Young was charged with Murder and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Moving Vehicle.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, January 13, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 3600 block of Citiside Drive in the North Tryon Division.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at approximately 10:28 a.m., North Tryon Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 3600 block of Citiside Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Immediate life-saving measures were taken but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
