Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, February 24, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Joanna Barrett (DOB: 02/16/1972). The victim's next of kin has been notified of her death.
As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have identified and arrested the suspect, Darren Curry (DOB: 12/15/1980). Mr. Curry was charged with Murder and is in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
Ms. Barrett's family has been notified of her death and arrest of the suspect.

Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, February 24, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4600 block of Perth Court in the North Tryon Division.
On Friday, February 24, just after 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a domestic violence related assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 4600 block of Perth Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a subject with multiple stab wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased by MEDIC. A suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Detectives are speaking with individuals who were at the scene and are not presently searching for any additional suspects. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, MEDIC, the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office Homicide Prosecution Team and Victim Services also assisted.
