Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 4100 block of Dinglewood Avenue in the Central Division.

The victim in this case was identified as Donna Marie Howard (DOB 11/25/1960). As a result of the investigation, detectives identified Rayshawn Strong (DOB 10/01/1996) as a suspect and obtained a 1st Degree Murder warrant.

 

On November 8, 2022, Strong was arrested by members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and transported to the Law Enforcement Center (601 E. Trade St.) Homicide detectives interviewed Strong. At the conclusion of the interview, Strong was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with 1st Degree Murder. The family of the victim has been notified of the arrest.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, June 25, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 4100 block of Dinglewood Avenue in the Central Division.

 

On Saturday, June 25, 2022, shortly before 2 a.m., officers responded to an assist medic call for service in the 4100 block of Dinglewood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying in the street. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
