Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, February 17, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation and with the assistance of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction's Special Operations and Intelligence Unit, the CMPD's Crime Gun Suppression Team and officers with the Hickory Grove Division, detectives identified a suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest.
During the afternoon hours of Thursday, February 16, 2023, the suspect, Kymani David Bishop (DOB: 06/06/2002), was taken into custody without incident through the coordinated effort of the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and members of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Bishop was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown for an interview with homicide detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, he was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Bishop has been charged with Murder and Discharge of a Firearm into Occupied Property.
The victim's next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the North Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, May 31, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 5200 block of Twin Brook Drive in the North Division.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on May 31, 2021, officers responded to an Assault With a Deadly Weapon call for service near the 5200 block of Twin Brook Drive. When they arrived, officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by medic.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the CMPD's Operations Command, Mobile Crisis, and CFD also assisted.
