Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 6400 block of Hackberry Creek Trail in the North Division.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, January 19, 2023) – The victim has been identified as Ali Rashid (DOB 07/11/1994). The victim's next of kin was notified of his death.

As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Quintin Shipp (DOB 03/31/1994) as a suspect. On January 18, 2023, officers with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) tracked Mr. Shipp to an address in Troutman, NC. With the assistance of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Shipp was arrested without incident. Following an interview with homicide detectives, Mr. Shipp is charged with Murder, Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the North Division

 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, January 13, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 6400 block of Hackberry Creek Trail in the North Division.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at approximately 7:03 p.m., North Division officers responded to a check welfare call for service in the 6400 block of Hackberry Creek Trail referencing a male victim in serious condition. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Charlotte Fire and Medic initiated life-saving measures on scene before transporting the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
