Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, July 7, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are asking the public to come forward with information regarding the murder of Sherilyn "Alicia" Drew that occurred just after midnight on May 31, 2021, when unknown suspects drove up in front of her residence and opened fire.

Alicia was 21 years old and had just returned home for the summer from Georgia State University where she was a rising senior pursuing a major in Biology.  Alicia also enjoyed studying language, and had taught herself American Sign Language, Korean and German.  Alicia's family has given homicide detectives the attached photographs, and together they hope someone in the community will come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of her killers.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, May 31, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 5200 block of Twin Brook Drive in the North Division.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on May 31, 2021, officers responded to an Assault With a Deadly Weapon call for service near the 5200 block of Twin Brook Drive.  When they arrived, officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the CMPD's Operations Command,  Mobile Crisis, and CFD also assisted.
