Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Division 2/14/22

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, February 14, 2022) – The victim in this case has been identified as Jaqusica Wilson, DOB: 1/25/95.  Her family has been notified of her death. Detectives have charged Corey Patterson, DOB: 10/30/1992 for the murder of Jaqusica Wilson. 

As a result of continued investigation, Homicide Unit Detectives identified Patterson as a suspect in this case. On February 13, 2022, officers with CMPD's Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) apprehended Patterson without incident. Following an interview,  Patterson was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Murder and Possession of Firearm by Felon. VCAT was also able to locate Marlaya Patterson at the time of the apprehension of Patterson. Marlaya has been reunited with family and is safe. Marlaya was the daughter of the victim in this case.  

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.  Homicide Investigation in the North Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, February 13, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1600 block of Swan Drive in the North Division.

At around 6;30 am on February 13, 2022 North Division officers responded to a check the welfare call for service. Upon arrival officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on by Medic.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, while Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.   Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victims Services, CMPD's Operations Command, and CFD also responded to the scene.
